Christian Dior Glass Brooch 1960s

SOLD

A very rare poured glass pink and gold flower brooch from fashion designer Christian Dior.

The brooch features pink glass petals in a gold tone, beaded frame with a faux pearl as the flower's centre.  The stem is also gold in tone and is adorned with three molded leaves in varying shades of green.

The safety clasp is in good, working condition.

The brooch is in excellent vintage condition apart from some plating loss on the prongs that surround the light green leaf on the stem .  There's also slight internal fracturing on the reverse of a couple of the glass petals which doesn't show through to the front and hasn't impacted the structural integrity of the piece.

Stamped Chr. Dior Germany 1965 on the back.

Era 1965
Size The brooch is 6.5cm in total length. The flower is 4cm in diameter.
Condition Very Good - some plating loss due to a previous encounter with verdigris on the prongs surrounding one of the leaves

Christian Dior

Christian Dior launched his fashion house in 1947 and from the beginning designed jewellery to complement the 'New Look' clothing he was creating. He used only the most talented and reputable companies to manufacture his jewellery designs.  You'll see pieces for Dior by Kramer, Mitchel Maer,  and Grosse.

All items were signed and many were dated.

Does Dior jewellery hold its value?

Christian Dior fashion jewellery is well worth collecting.  Dior jewellery is renowned for its quality and craftmanship as well as its pleasing designs and innovative use of art glass and crystals.  The market for midcentury Dior jewellery is exploding at the moment with prices climbing  as pieces become increasingly difficult to find.  Dior jewellery from the 1970s onwards is quickly following the upwards trajectory.

How do you rate the condition of a piece?

Excellent - No visible flaws to note but items may exhibit some signs of age related wear
Very Good - Some visible flaws which aren't considered to impair the wearability of the piece
Good - Some more notable flaws but the piece is still in collectible condition

All items are vintage and have lived a previous life, therefore signs of age related wear are to be expected. I do my best to bring attention to any faults in the description and by using the condition scale.
