Vintage Signed Schreiner Red Strawberry Brooch

This is a fantastic example of the meticulous construction of Schreiner pieces of jewellery.  This brooch pin takes the form of a strawberry and is decorated with bright red and green crystals.   All of the crystals are prong set and sparkle really nicely.  One can see how the three dimensional brooch was constructed by turning it over and viewing the riveted settings and reinforcements typical of Schreiner work.  The crystals are set in Japanned metal which was a Schreiner favourite.

All in lovely condition with a working rollclasp fastener.

Signed 'SCHREINER' on a plaque attached to the back of the brooch.

'Wow' is the word that most often springs to mind when seeing a Schreiner piece.  The company was founded in New York by Henry Schreiner and run by his daughter and her husband after Henry's death.  Their output of colourful and unique hand crafted pieces epitomized the best that costume jewellery had to offer.  They used the finest glass and lucite gems always in interesting ways.  One trademark was to set the gems upside down so that the pointed end was up.  Schreiner jewellery isn't always signed but the pieces are identifiable through certain design hallmarks like dogtooth setting of the stones, donut hole ear clips and big bold statements.  Read our article on the characteristics of Schreiner jewellery to find out more.

How do you rate the condition of a piece?

Excellent - No visible flaws to note but items may exhibit some signs of age related wear
Very Good - Some visible flaws which aren't considered to impair the wearability of the piece
Good - Some more notable flaws but the piece is still in collectible condition

All items are vintage and have lived a previous life, therefore signs of age related wear are to be expected. I do my best to bring attention to any faults in the description and by using the condition scale.
