Nilius Martinius Thune (1831-90) took over the business of goldsmith FJ Brinck in 1857 and became one of the most well known goldsmiths in Norway. Interest in his gold jewellery began to decrease in the 1950s and Thune changed his focus to silver enameled jewellery. The company produced pretty enameled pieces in leaf and butterfly shapes which were popular in Scandinavian jewellery. Pieces are often marked 'THUNE' or with a 'T' in a shield.
