Standard Necklace Length Guide
Necklaces come in all shapes and sizes but you'll see standard lengths referenced frequently in jewellery descriptions. Below is a chart showing these standard lengths in centemeters and inches and where they fall on the body.
Collar - (30cm - 33cm) The collar sits snugly around the neck, remember the 90s ladies?
Choker - (35cm - 41cm) The choker falls just above the collar bone. It's very versatile and what we stock most.
Princess - (45cm - 50 cm) These sit just below collar bone at a classic length. Think: pearls.
Matinee - (56cm - 69cm) The matinee will sit just at the top of the bust.
Opera - (70cm - 90cm) Most traditionally opera pearls, this length will sit below the breastbone.
Rope - Anything longer than an opera. The most iconic examples being the famous Chanel sautoir necklaces. These can be wrapped around the neck to sit at a shorter overall length.
