Antique Marius Hammer Blue Enamelled Bar Brooch Pin
This dainty pin is decorated in the Scandinavian style with a light blue guilloché enamel set on solid silver. This pretty brooch was made prior to 1930 when the Marius Hammer company closed. It was probably made in the period between 1910 and 1930.
The brooch fastens with a C clasp. Please note that the C portion is a different colour of metal to the silver but is still likely original. It's in lovely condition without chips to the enamel and with expected age-related tarnish to the silver.
It's stamped '930S' for silver and 'M' with the hammer mark for Marius Hammer.
Marrius Hammer
Marius Hammer, was a renowned Norwegian goldsmith and jeweller. He gained his expertise through studying in Germany before founding his workshop in Norway in 1871. He became known for his modern interpretations of traditional Norwegian jewellery and exquisite enamel work. By 1885, he proudly held the title of 'By Special Appointment to the Prince of Wales'. After his retirement in 1915, his legacy endured, as his sons continued the firm's operations until 1930.
How do you rate the condition of a piece?
Excellent - No visible flaws to note but items may exhibit some signs of age related wear
Very Good - Some visible flaws which aren't considered to impair the wearability of the piece
Good - Some more notable flaws but the piece is still in collectible condition
All items are vintage and have lived a previous life, therefore signs of age related wear are to be expected. I do my best to bring attention to any faults in the description and by using the condition scale.
