Isabel Canovas Red Poured Glass Earrings

SOLD

These long vintage clip back earrings are from the 1980s and made by designer Isabel Canovas.  She had a tenure as a designer for Christian Dior in the 1970s before branching out on her own.  These striking earrings were made in her modernist style with poured glass red beads graduating in size . Each berry-like bead is crowned with a gold plated cap which features leaf vein detailing.

The earrings are in excellent condition apart from a bit of damage where a couple of small bumps have broken off the glass crescents on each earring clip front.  This is only visible on close inspection and doesn't detract from the wearability although the damage has been reflected in the price.

Each earring is stamped 'ISABEL CANOVAS' on the back of each fitting.  The backs of the earring clips also display some markings where the distinctive black tape used sit labelling the earrings as made in France.  They are quite weighty coming in at 34g each.

Isabel Canovas

Isabel Canovas was born in Paris in 1945.  She started as an accessories designer for Hermes, later working at Louis Vuitton.   Her most high profile position was as a designer at Christian Dior in the 1970s.   She eventually opened her own boutique in Paris releasing limited amounts of each collection.   Her stores closed in 1992.

How do you rate the condition of a piece?

Excellent - No visible flaws to note but items may exhibit some signs of age related wear
Very Good - Some visible flaws which aren't considered to impair the wearability of the piece
Good - Some more notable flaws but the piece is still in collectible condition

All items are vintage and have lived a previous life, therefore signs of age related wear are to be expected. I do my best to bring attention to any faults in the description and by using the condition scale.
