Vintage Trifari KTF 1930s Art Deco Brooch
This rectangular Trifari brooch is typical of the Art Deco geometric style. It's decorated with clear crystals on a silver tone background. The centres of the longer sides feature raised bands of baguette crystals bounded by horseshoe shapes, also decorated with round crystals.
The brooch fastens with a roll clasp. It is stamped 'reg KTF' and followed by what looks like 33F, could that be a date code? It's also stamped '23' on the other side, this is possibly the stone setter's mark. KTF was in use by Trifari in the 1930s, prior to the Crown Trifari mark.
Condition: some light discolouration to the crystals visible under magnification but still in very nice condition for its age. It looks better in real life than in the photographs.
Trifari
Trifari was started in the early 1900s by an Italian immigrant to America, Gustavo Trifari.
Trifari were the first company to copyright their jewellery designs, doing so after a drawn out legal battle with another costume jewellery design company, Coro.
They patented their own non-tarnishing metal, Trifanium, which is why so many of their pieces survive in such excellent condition.

How do you rate the condition of a piece?
Excellent - No visible flaws to note but items may exhibit some signs of age related wear
Very Good - Some visible flaws which aren't considered to impair the wearability of the piece
Good - Some more notable flaws but the piece is still in collectible condition
All items are vintage and have lived a previous life, therefore signs of age related wear are to be expected. I do my best to bring attention to any faults in the description and by using the condition scale.
