Vintage Grossé Hand Painted Enamel Brooch 1967

SOLD

This brooch was part of Grossé's 1967 collection and is signed as such on the reverse.

The enamel would have been painted on by hand so you can be sure that no two brooches were identical.  I have seen other leaf brooches made in this year by Grossé for their own collections and for Christian Dior but this is the only three-leaf version that I've seen and the only one with this green and yellow enamel.  I would rate this as a very rare piece.

The condition would be rated as excellent however the enamelling has chipped away to reveal the gold plating in a couple of small spots on the front of the brooch.  I don't feel it detracts very much from the wearability because the gold plating is intentionally revealed in the veining and speckling of the leaves.  The plating is in excellent condition and clasp closes securely.

Signed 'Grosse 67 Germany'.

Grossé

Originally known as Henkel & Grosse, the German company dropped the Henkel part of the name and then 'Frenchified' the name further by adding an accent on the final e.  Well known for producing jewellery for Christian Dior, which they've done since the 1950s, Grossé has also produced their own line of jewellery since they opened in 1907.  The Grossé aesthetic is simple and elegant with pieces plated in gold or rhodium and minimally adorned.

How do you rate the condition of a piece?

Excellent - No visible flaws to note but items may exhibit some signs of age related wear
Very Good - Some visible flaws which aren't considered to impair the wearability of the piece
Good - Some more notable flaws but the piece is still in collectible condition

All items are vintage and have lived a previous life, therefore signs of age related wear are to be expected. I do my best to bring attention to any faults in the description and by using the condition scale.
