Kramer Filigree Crystal Brooch
This vintage Kramer brooch is a real beauty. It's more 3D than a usual brooch, measuring 2.5cm in height. The brooch is built up of multiple levels with golden filigree flowers partially covering sizable clear crystals. Black enamel ribs join from the centre to the smaller crystals on the perimeter.
It has a pendant attachment so a small chain could be threaded through to wear the pin as a necklace.
Stamped 'Kramer of New York' on the reverse. The brooch is in excellent condition - there is one oddity where a gold bead is sitting inside the filigree detail on the back of the brooch. It doesn't seem to serve any purpose but may have been part of the manufacturing process, see final image.
Kramer NY formed in the mid 1940s and was run by the three Kramer brothers. They favoured floral designs, glass enamelling and plenty of sparkle. In the 1950s and 1960s Kramer collaborated with Christian Dior to produce top quality jewellery for the fashion house, so you can be sure that anything produced by Kramer was of the highest quality. Unfortunately the company closed in the 1970s.
