Ciro CP Double Clip Brooch with Box

SOLD

This Art Deco double clip brooch was made for English company Ciro  of Bond Street.  Each clip is decorated with a pretty floral design, set with clear pastes in a silver tone chromed finish.

Ciro used Trifari's patented Clip Mates fastenings under license for this double clip brooch.  To detach the clips one simply slides them off the central brooch mechanism.

The hard shell box is in excellent condition with the hinge and clasp both working well.  The leatherette finish and satin lining show minimal signs of wear for their age.  The pastes are all present and in overall good condition for their age however a few of the pastes have darkened and several have aged to a yellowish tinge, although this is only noticeable at certain lighting angles as you can see from the photos.  The metal on the brooch is in excellent condition throughout and both the brooch and clip mechanisms are in good condition.

The brooch is stamped 'CP' for Ciro Pearl and 'ENGLAND' on each clip fitting.

Ciro

Ciro (Ciro of Bond Street) opened for business in 1917 and began selling top quality costume jewellery.  They were particularly renowned for their use of imitation pearls and in fact much of their early jewellery is marked 'CP' where the 'P' stands for Pearls.  They also used 'SCP' to stamp their sterling silver jewellery.

How do you rate the condition of a piece?

Excellent - No visible flaws to note but items may exhibit some signs of age related wear
Very Good - Some visible flaws which aren't considered to impair the wearability of the piece
Good - Some more notable flaws but the piece is still in collectible condition

All items are vintage and have lived a previous life, therefore signs of age related wear are to be expected. I do my best to bring attention to any faults in the description and by using the condition scale.
