1940s Eisenberg Original Clip with Pink and Blue Gems

This is one for the collectors!  This large shield-shaped Art Deco fur clip was made in the 1940s by Eisenberg.   It is set with very large paste gems in a variety of shapes and in a very rare pink and light blue colourway.  The clip is further decorated with clear rhinestones.  The gems are set in a silver tone metal which is believed to be a plated base metal.

It is signed on the clip mechanism, 'Eisenberg ORIGINAL' and stamped 'x' on the brooch back which is probably the stone setter's mark.

The clip is quite large, measuring 6.5cm in length and 6cm across its widest point.

Eisenberg and Sons began life as a clothing company.  They introduced costume jewellery to compliment their clothing designs but the jewellery soon became the more popular of the two and the company turned their focus fully to costume jewellery.   They signed their first pieces 'Eisenberg Original'.  These were produced between the mid 1930s and the mid 1940s.  During the war years and up to 1948 they also produced some pieces in silver, which were marked 'Eisenberg Sterling'.

Dating other pieces can be confusing because they introduced the 'Eisenberg Ice' range in the late 1940s, used it until approximately 1952 then stopped marking most pieces.  After 1970 they again began to mark pieces with 'Eisenberg Ice'.

Their jewellery is admired and collected because of its fine craftsmanship and high quality crystal-set designs.

How do you rate the condition of a piece?

Excellent - No visible flaws to note but items may exhibit some signs of age related wear
Very Good - Some visible flaws which aren't considered to impair the wearability of the piece
Good - Some more notable flaws but the piece is still in collectible condition

All items are vintage and have lived a previous life, therefore signs of age related wear are to be expected. I do my best to bring attention to any faults in the description and by using the condition scale.
